Join us at Masjid Khadijah this Day of Ashura as we gather as a community to break our fast together and remember the blessings of this special day.
The Prophet ï·º encouraged fasting on the 10th of Muharram and said:
"Fasting the day of Ashura, I hope that Allah will expiate thereby the sins of the previous year." (Sahih Muslim)
Ashura is a day of gratitude, worship and reflection. It is the day on which Allah saved Prophet Musa (Moses) عليه السلام and his people, so the Prophet ﷺ fasted it and encouraged his Ummah to do the same. To distinguish ourselves, it is recommended to fast a day before or after Ashura as well.
Bring your family and join your brothers and sisters in faith for a blessed evening of fasting, dua, remembrance and community. May Allah accept our fasting, forgive our sins and allow us to begin the new Islamic year with hearts turned towards Him.
Iftar will be provided. All are welcome.
May Allah make it a source of forgiveness, unity and increased taqwa for our community. Ameen.
